Medical assistant salaries can vary by industry, degree, experience, geography and certification.  The starting salary of a medical assistant, according to the 2014 American Association of Medical Assistants salary survey, was about $24,400 to $25,900 for 0-2 years experience.
Medical assistant salaries (mean annual) were about $29,400 in May 2012, according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics. The lowest 10 percent earned a medical assistant salary of less than about $21,100 and the highest 10 percent earned more than about $40,000.
